Tim Calkins is an author, marketing consultant, and professor at Northwestern University.
This catchy title has nothing to do with agriculture. It’s actually a highly useful book on business presentations. The title comes from his first experience in public speaking. As a boy, he gave a presentation at a 4H competition. This awful experience drove him to become an expert at presenting.
This book offers practical advice for anyone giving business presentations. There is little new here but the writing is clear and organized. The author offers step-by-step guidance for preparing the presentation, preparing yourself, and preparing the audience. All this advice is neatly summarized in the last chapter, “Twenty-five presenting tips”.
Of course, most of this guidance applies to other presentation contexts. Whether developing a conference keynote or a third-grade book report, every presenter can learn something here.
